Josée "Androïde" Ferrer wins the international Flanders Regatta
First time the Patin class participated in this major international regatta in Flanders. 10 patins entered the regatta, most of them couldn't complete the whole race schedule. We were very honored to welcome Josée's among the participants : his eagerness to learn you always new tricks and tips to improve your patin sailing is always very appreciated. The regatta started in warm and sunny weather with light to gentle breeze wind conditions. We sailed two races around the Optimist and Cadet classes. The light wind obliged the RC to shorten each race. In the evening was a opening reception at Nieuwpoort, concluded with a very pleasant dinner in the company of most of the patin sailors. On sunday we completed one race, as the light breeze made our arrival on the starting area a bit late. On monday the weather changed. Showers with gusts of wind disturbed the racing. During the second race that day, Josée finished the downwind leg sailing backwards, his patin pointing in the wind during a rather heavy shower. Only 5 patins finished that race, and we still had to complete a long beat towards our berthing at SYCOD Oostduinkerke. On tuesday, all races were abandoned as the wind was blowing more the 35 knots during the showers. As only 4 or 5 boats could start the last day, we concluded to stop all racing and end the regatta. Josée took the first place with 5 first finishes, followed by Simon and Mark. We'd like to thank the Race Organisation to let us experience the atmosphere of an international sailing regatta.
