Pinkster Regatta 2009

Nine patinairos came to this first regatta of the season. We welcomed Andreas (Piratas), who came over from Dusseldorf, a three and a halve hour ride, with his fiber patin Piratas.

When crossing the dunes, the sea looked rather agitated, especially at a distance from the shore. A strong Northern wind blew over 20 knots, with white foam crests on 1,5 to 2 meter waves. The low temperatures didn't help to get excited to race. After waiting one hour in a cloud of fine sand blown over the clubhouse, the race committee decided to cancel any further racing.

This didn't stop Mark to get out on the water and give a demonstration of patin surfing. Since this was his first sailing of the season, his handling was not yet that smooth. His tack in the surf stalled, and a wave got the patin capsizing, bending his mast.

On sunday, after the last rain of the morning, the wind was moderate, and it became sunny. We had 2 fast races in a 15 knot wind.

After the races, we had a nice trip back to De Haan. The end of a perfect sailing day !
