A beautifull blue sky welcomed us on the beaches of Twins on Monday August 15th. It was still early in the morning when we arrived but already some die-hard sailors were discussing the weather conditions. A diversified breakfast was arranged to refill our energy levels. After a small briefing we knew our destination of this 4th edition of the Twins Long Distance: Oost-Duinkerke.A total of 18 catamarans, of which 7 patins, set sail for a day of cruising along the Belgian coast. The weather was ideal. A light wind perpendicular to the shore made sure we advanced at a reasonable speed. Once arrived at Oost-Duinkerke the organising committee already set up camp and provided the hungry sailors with sandwiches. But our hunger for sailing was not yet satisfied. Boldness led us to sail further untill we reached De Panne, the most Western city on the Belgian coast. But upon returning the wind fell. Luckily the current was in our advantage. With optimal trim (and some paddling) we eventually reached Twins before sunset. A nice BBQ closed this nice day.
Thanks to the organising crew!
